A vCard file is a standard electronic file format used for exchanging personal information,
specifically electronic business cards, or contact files.
Unlike standard business cards that are generally made of paper or plastic with
text and graphics, vCard files contain enriched contact info in a multimedia format.
You can include information in the form of text, URLs, images, logos, audio clips,
etc.
The file format is widely used, and supported by most email clients and contact management
applications, both for computers and cellular phones.
What is vCardFile.com?
vCardFile.com brings the practice of exchanging business cards to the web, making
it easier and more effective.
As a registered user of vCardFile.com you can generate your vCard Files online and
assign them a URL such as: http://yourname.vCardFile.com.
Whoever visits your URL will be able to check out your complete, updated contact
information, as well as download the vCard file to the address book on their computers
and cell phones, regardless of which email client or application they use to manage

How do I share my URL?
You can print your URL on business cards, include it in your email signature and/or
web pages, or simply pass it on to your interlocutor during meetings and events.

What is the benefit of having “yourname.vcardfile.com”?
The swapping of business cards at meetings and events is based on courtesy. The
idea is to make it easier to share our personal contact information with the people
we meet so that they can save it and get it touch with us in the future.
Today, technology has changed the way we manage our contact information. Paper is
no longer the ideal medium for saving and accessing contact info for clients, service
providers, colleagues and friends.
Today someone that receives a business card has to digitalize that information,
uploading it piece-by-piece to his or her computer or cell phone.

updated file, while you insure that you can always keep in touch with them.
Who can access my information?
Whoever knows your URL can access and download the information that you have published.
If you choose you can configure your vCard File so that some of your data remains private; that way anyone visiting your URL must enter your personal code (set by you, the user) in order to access all of your information.
Do my contacts have to be registered in order to access and download my vCard File?
This is very important! Your contacts do not need to be registered in order to access
your URL and download your vCard File.
The idea is to give you the chance to create your own online space in order to share
information with your contacts.
What are the characteristics of the personalized URLs?
They can have anywhere between 3 and 50 characters. They must contain at least one
letter from A to Z, in standard US ASCII format, and they cannot begin or end with
a hyphen.
A URL can never be composed only of numbers.
How much do the personalized “yourname.vcardfile.com” URL’s cost?
The price of personalizing your URL is $10.00 per year. If you prefer you can receive
a free, randomly assigned URL (i.e.“abcd1234.vcardfile.com”).
How are the free URLs different?
The service of having your information online, and downloading it to a vCard File
is the same.
The only differences are the fact that you can personalize the Premium URLs, and
that the free URLs also contain advertising space for our sponsors.
For how long can I acquire my URL?
URLs can be acquired for up to 3 years.
How many URLs can be linked to the same account?
You can have up to 5 vCard Files, with their respective URLs, linked to your account.
How do I manage the privacy options for my information?
You can opt to keep some of your information private by assigning it a Personal
Code to be shared only with those people you choose. Whoever knows your Personal
Code will have access to all the information on that vCard File.
Those who don’t know your code may solicit it directly from your URL. You will receive
an email with the solicitor’s comments, and an email address where you can send
the Personal Code.
Some users prefer to create various different URLs in order to administer their
privacy.
Can I change a vCard File’s URL?
Once a URL is confirmed, whether it personalized or free, neither the web address
nor the sub domain that the user or system assigned to it can be modified.
You can generate a new vCard File with a new URL as long as you have not surpassed
the 5 vCardFiles available to each account.
You will always have the option of eliminating or deactivating a URL from the control
panel. If you should decide to eliminate a personalized URL, you will not have the
right to request any refund, not even for the period of time remaining on the service
contract.
Will I receive any notice when my URL is about to expire?
Yes. You will receive up to 3 reminders one month prior to the expiration of your
URL. During this period you can choose to renew this URL from the control panel
by pressing the button RENEW for the corresponding URL.
You can also renew your URLs at any time prior to expiration, as long as this does
not imply surpassing the maximum number of years set by vCardFile.com.
If you choose not to renew a URL prior to its expiration, the URL will become available
for use by other users, and you will no longer hold any rights pertaining to it.
How can I download multiple cards at once?
Registered users can simultaneously download up to 5 cards in the vCard File format.
By using the option “Download” from your account’s control panel you won’t have
to go to each of the URL’s for the contacts you wish to obtain.
